3-8-12 Accra Secondary School Computer Lab

This is the computer lab. All schools in the country have a technology curriculum but not all have computers and electricity. This makes teaching technology one of Ghana's challenges. This school is lucky.

  1. I'd be interested to see what the technology curriculum looks like.

  2. If it is anything like the other curriculum it is similar to ours. Use of excel, word, powerpoint. Pretty hard with no electricity. I am going to see if we can find a way to skype from a sc lab next week to connect students with students.

  3. Lack of technology links with issues of development. I think it's great for your U.S. students to see a computer lab which is a distinctly different environment from what they are used to. By chance did you have the chance to show the Ghana students a picture of a computer lab from here in the U.S.?

    1. Hi
We did manage to get the only school projector hooked up to one of our computers and showed movies and pictures of our labs, classrooms, schools and families. We have discussed at length what might be the best way for us to communicate between schools. Skype does not seem viable as there are connection and time table issues so we have set up a youtube channel to try to share videos between schools.
